The SME Excellence in Manufacturing Training award honors a manufacturer who demonstrates an exceptional commitment and dedication to upskilling the workforce, enhancing talent, and preparing new and incumbent employees for a successful career in the manufacturing industry.

Specifically, this award honors a manufacturer who implements best practices for reducing the skills gap and for building a high-performance workforce:

  • Training programs tie directly to the bottom line
  • Performance-based competency models are defined
  • Learning solutions are aligned with business and job needs to develop required knowledge and skills
  • Formalized training and structured on-the-job training (OJT) programs are established
  • Training effectiveness is measured, and training is modified as necessary to provide a positive impact on employee and organizational performance
